I have to replace the Throttle/Forward-Reverse mechanism for my 1996 Hunter 29.5. On inspection the cables controlling the throttle & the forward/reverse also need replacing. Does anyone know the type and length and end fitting requirements for these cables. I have been told that the Teleflex TF Extreme series 33000 will work OK, but before I purchase, I am appealing to anyone who has done this. Thanks

Check it!

DON'T RELY ON THE MANUFACTURER! If it's a teleflex cable it should have the length marked on it as part of the part number. (he last three digits). For example, a Teleflex Red Jacket 032377-003-228 is 228" (19'). DON'T do what I did, which was call Hunter. They were very helpfull, very confident, and very wrong.

Cables??

Take the cables, transmission and motor attachments and the mounting brackets from both ends to a dealer. I recently repowered our Hunter 30, and nothing fit the same. The Old Morse MJB Controller had one type of fitting and the new Diesel had 10/32 screw fittings. You can probably get away with a standard 3300 cable, and buy the appropriate end fitting to match the controller and the motor.
