throttle/control cable replacement

thought I'd pass along my experience in replacing the throttle cable on our 89 Vision 32.. I originally tried using Edson's instructions obtained from their website but was unable to budge the cables to pull them up. There is a 4" long piece of pipe inside the pedistal pipe that apparently is there to keep the control cables out of the steering cables, the control cables are/were pinched between the two pipes. What I had to do was unbolt the pedistal, take the steering cables off the quadrant, pull the chain up and out of the way and lay the pedistal down to change out the cable. The whole deal only took about 4 hours and I performed all of Edson's maintenance items while I had it down. The weekend before I spent a full day busting knuckles and cutting fingers trying to pull the cables up from the top of the pedistal... wish I had known. By the way, when our throttle cable stuck the throttle lever broke off and we have replaced it with the new stainless one, but, it hits the guage housing that is attached to the pedistal guard.. I can't get the screw loose on this housing to swivel it out of the way, it's froze there- any ideas?
