Throttle Cable Lubricants

Can someone also please tell me if you use any cable lubricants on the throttle. The throttle is very hard to push or pull which does not make for a very smooth ride at times. I've adjusted the cable break to hold the throttle in place and it is at the absolute least tension it can be without having the handle constantly fall out of speed. What else can be done to get a smooth throttle and have it hold any any given rpm?

CRC seems to work. Likely any penetrating oil would. You will need to apply it several times to get it to run down the cable. Check to be sure that you don't have any tight bends or kinks. Often the problems are at the terminal ends with improper connections or the wrong clearance. Also check the clevis pins to be sure they are not too long and are not hanging up on something.
