The Boat is a 1991 Hunter 30T, the engine is yanmar 2GM20F (880 hours), the pedestal is Edson and the problem is that it is quite hard to "push" the throtle forward. Someone mentioned to me a few years ago that had a similar problem and found out that it was some kind of a clamp somewhere along the throtle linkage, but I can't remeber where this "clamp" is to be found. The actual throtle control arm at the engine moves quite freely. Any ideas, any advice? Thank you in advance ~~~_/)~~~

Disassembled my 1990 30 this weekend.

I have the same problem with my 1990 30 but unfortunately mine looks like its in the engine. My Edson has a bolt (parallel to the cockpit floor)that controls the tension on the cable and it can be seen by taking out the compass. You may be able to reach it with a socket and extension and not have to remove anything but the compass.

Stiff cable

I have sailed three different H30s with the same engine and pedistal, now own a 1990 H30; they all have this problem. All owners devised a retainer of some kind on the pedistal to hold the throttle at cruising RPM. One owner used a small diameter knotted line. We currently use a small bunging cord. When at cruising speeds, it slips on; when mooring it comes off....
