Three Rings of Packing

Am I correct in assuming that a C30 takes three rings of 3/16 packing in the stuffing box?

Yep, just did it and it worked like a charm. I got a couple of conflicting answers so I called the Catalina service number to make sure. By the way, here's a great tip I picked up along the way, measure and cut the rings around the stern rail. It's 1" diameter just like the drive shaft.

Repacking

Also, if you're facing a new packing job, two suggestions. One, Home Depot sells a set of pick tools (similar to dental probes) that make pulling out the old packing a breeze. Two, try the GFO dripless packing material. It's fantastic. No drips at all.
