I just made the silliest of mistake when removing my mainsail. I forgot to uncouple the outhaul shackle and in one fell swoop, I pull the mains off the boom slide and out came my outhaul tensioning rope. Now I think I've problem threading this rope back to the turning block inside of the Selden boom. The mast end piece of boom is riveted but the far end astern piece is secured with mintrox screw. I plan to remove that, bring the block out slightly, pull a messager line from mast end back to boom astern using a fishing tape (sort of), messager line go round the block and with fishing tape push the messager line back to mast end. Now secure outhaul rope (mast end) to messager line and thread through, round the block and back to mast end.
Am I correct? Will it work? Sorry for long-winded steps above. Thanks.

Sounds like a good plan. It also does not appear that there is much of a choice unless you can get a fish line in/out of the boom end without removal of the end piece, which may be doable.

Good news. Managed to rethread the clew (outhaul) thro' the block within the boom. Now I'm back to 3:1 for the outhaul. Bboooy, a 30sec mistake turns into a 6 hours job to rectify. I uses the steps as described above. Every step of the way is a challenge in itself ! You won't want to mess with the inner part of the boom. :naughty: I've learnt my lesson. Am taking precaution by putting a stopper knot on each and every lines.
