Thoughts on T/S Marine Air VRP16K

I have a 1997 h40.5 with two Marine Air Reverse-cycle A/C units. One is a 16K BTU and the other is a 5K BTU. Last fall the 16K unit failed and presented a high current on start-up in heat mode - about 35A - and tripped the breaker. My notes from last fall don't tell me if it also fails in cool mode, but I will check out everything after I get launched this year.

Does anyone have any T/S suggestions as to where to start to isolate the problem? I don't get any error codes on the temp display.

It is a Marine Air model VRP16K.

I pretty sure its your reverse cycling valve. My old Cruise Arr when it finally came to the end of its life did this while in heat mode. I got lucky and was able to get it to switch over to cool mode and then just left it set to cool mode were it worked fine.... When I change it out to the mermaid .... A neighbor was restoring a Ranger 30' and was in need of something to cool his boat. He installed it on his boat and got another 2 years out of it.
