I have finally found all the leaks in my boat. I have fixed all but one of them. The last leak is where the shroud attaches to the deck (I believe it is called the Chain Plate). I have heard that the best way to fix this is to removed the chain plate, calk, and replace the chain plate. I am feeling a bit lazy and I really don't want to drop the mast. Any ideas on how to fix the leak in the easiest way possible? I don't want to do a temp. fix.

use your halyard

Use your mains Halyard as your standing rigging, then you can rebed the chain plate. You should not have to drop the mast.

Chainplate Leak

Matt Start here (the link, and start reading. Have fun, it's not all that bad to fix. No mast pulling required. Stu

Temporary shroud

Why couldn't you temporarily rig the shroud to a stantion or side rail while you remove the chainplate and hardware? If you are on the hard you could rig a line clear under the hull to hold the shroud. I don't think you will have that much tension on the shroud while the sail is down.
