My 1980 33 actually "survived" Katrina at South Shore Harbor in New Orleans. Out of the 400 or so boats in the marina, absolutely none remained tied to their docks. Many ended up in the parking lot adjacent to the marina, deposited there by the 17+ foot storm surge...hard to tie a boat to a dock and have it stay there under those conditions, didn't seem to matter how well or how poorly the mooring job was, they all either sunk or broke loose. The point of this post is, though, that many of the Cherubini Hunters, the 30's 33's and 37's seemed to survive in one piece, and all I have seen still have their rigging and masts!!! look at the link above and you will see what I mean.. Reality traveled about 200 yards from the dock to the parking lot, and still has the mast and doesn't appear to have any holes in the hull...Most boats, Hunter or otherwise, seemed to lose the masts and rigging, but it is unusual how many of the Cherubini models from the late 70's to early 80's survived with masts and keels intact.Of course, now the boats are being "protected" by a marine salvage company hired by the Orleans Levee board that won't let civilians into the marina to check on their boats, so Reality may have survived Katrina to be "sunk" by the legal storm, but just the fact that she survived in one piece is a testament to the strength of those old Hunters...I've attached a link to some pictures...don't look if you love boats, there are a lot of dreams in a pile in these pictures. Anybody want to sublease a slip for 6 months??
