This might be a lot to ask for on this forum

But I have a starter battery for my Yamaha outboard and it is used to provide power in the yacht. I am wanting to fit shore power so that I can add a house battery with a charger and keep it charged up while tied up at the marina. So I am hoping I might be able to find out how to wire this all in so that when in the marina the shore power charges the house battery and at times may be needed to charge the motor starter battery. And when out at sea I can charge the house battery via the motor if that all makes sence?? And to be able to isolate the starter battery when at sea. If anyone has a diagram to achieve this it would be very much appreciated.

Battery combiner...

This link may help. It's a battery combiner instruction booklet. A trip to your local chandlery will expose you to a number of products, all of which have detailed instructions included. Take a sketch of your existing system with you when you go.

Charging with Outboard Engine

Hi Mark - I would suggest a flooded lead acid battery for house to deal with voltage volatility of outboard rectifier as charging source. Depending on how long you go between charges I would recommend only hooking up house battery to the outboard. The starting battery would not receive any charge but should have enough capacity to start the engine many times before recharging at the dock. I would carry jumper cables so if necessary the house battery could be used for starting in an emergency. Refer to Nigel Calder’s Boatowners Mechanical and Electrical Manual for coaching.
