Little known fact: Andros, Bahamas has the third largest barrier reef in the world. it is only smaller than the great barrier reef in australia and the one in Belize.
Amazing! it's right here, 100 miles from Florida, and nobody comes here!!! All the cruising boats in the bahamas are in the abacos, the exumas, nassau, etc... Andros is amazingly untouched.
Yesterday we went snorkeling and spear fishing off of a small keyjust north of this anchorage, and it was the most beautiful development i've seen. I havent dived much, but i have scuba dived some amazing banks in Grenada, and this definately rivaled that and beat anything I've seen in the Florida keys.
Tomorr i expect us to head south a bit in whats left of the east winds here. Then we'll be in position to cross the tongue of the ocean when the winds turn south. that'll bring us to the famed Exumas--the home of the reveered "Land and Sea Park."
