thinking of moving up

I currently sail on an Oday 20. shes a sweet boat that I normally sail single-handed on a nice size lake. but now ive been looking at a helms 25. it has abit more room, a wider beam, and more displacement. has anyone had any experience with these boats as to their handling not only on the lake I sail now but on the great lakes as well. Im not into fast/race sailing but I enjoy the cruise.

How about a 78 or 79 Hunter 30? Might be available in FL at a reasonable price.

The Helms 25 apparently is not a common boat as there have been few responses. Do you have any more info you can offer.
I sail a 82 San Juan 23 that I trailer alot to different areas and it works well in wind ranges of up to 25 knots if you are well experenced. It is great for trips of 4 to 7 days and longer if you can restock in route. There are many boats in this size range that can be purchased for less than $6,000 with trailer. If you are new to sailing it will take a couple of years to become proficent if you sail at least once weekly in the summer.

...they are a big boat and might work well for what you have in mind as they are also a heavy boat. Of course with that weight and the trailer and supplies they might end up over 6000 lbs. What are you towing with? Would that be a problem?
