Thinking of going with a 3 blade prop, info needed

I currently have a two bladed prop, 15x14, powered by a 3gm30Yanmar.Im thinking of going to a 3 blade prop. Has anyone done this and what size did you go to. What works at 2500 rpm ?

If you present prop is working okay,

then you can remove 1 degree of pitch and go to three blades. Each inch of diameter or degree of pitch will increase or decrease the RPM's by 200-300 rpms 'as a rule of thumb'.Your engine should be able to reach MAX rpm with the present prop if not you may be over propped.

I went with a Martec Feathering Prop

I have a 93 33.5 with the 3GM30 and had the two blade 15x14 prop. I purchased the 15" prop (last year)and adjusted the pitch after it was installed.. (had a diver do it) Very nice to be able to change the forward and reverse pitch independently. I really like to be able to stop. Good speed.. and good stopping power.

Three Blade prop

I have a 33.5 and was unhappy with my two blade. I ordered a three blade from West by North Enterpries. Cost was a little over $5OO.00. I'm very happy with the three blade. When I ordered I just told them I had a Hunter 33.5 and they did the rest. www.westbynorth.com

Have a 3-Blade on a H-380

This may not be too much specific help, but we have a three-bladed prop on our 380 and it works beautifuly.Since we never used the factory-installed two-bladed version, I can't really say much about any differences - sorry.But, the three-bladed version certainly stops the boat in short order and provides lots of 'bite' and power for extracating ourselves from accidental touches on sandbars...
