I am thinking of buying a 1988 Hunter 20. It may need new sails and cushions. I would like to know what a fair price would be. Also, the boat would need to be trailered from Florida to Maryland, where could I rent a trailor? Thank You

88?

Jack Check the nameplate. I don't think Hunter made a 20 in 88. Phil T

BUC IT

Have you heard of the BUC book. This gives prices for used boats. You may be able to find it on the Internet. You may want to reconsider buying a 20'. We bought our first boat 2 years ago and started out with a Hunter '27. There's alot more utility with a '27. However, you cant' trailer it. Its just something to think about.

A few Links

For general price quotes, look at www.nadaguides.com - they will give you up to 5 free quotes per day. For info on the boat buying process, check out www.marinesurvey.com I just went through the process last year, and it can be long and trying - but it is worth it! Good Luck! Rob

Don't know but here are some tips on saving $

If replacing the cushions, go to foamorder.com to order the foam part. They are the cheapest I have found and they will custom cut however you need them to. I also went to Wal-mart and found a decent material on sale for $1.00 per yard. It is solid navy and rather sturdy (definately not Sunbrella material but it'll do). Now all you need is someone with a sewing machine. Total cost for my Catalina 22 was under $150.00. As for sails, try Nationalsail.com. Not racing quality but good enough for my boat (Main $380, 150% $450, Storm <$200, spin $480).
