Wife and I would like more room. One of the boats we'd like to see and maybe move to is the 11.0 aft cockpit. 1984 or newer. Anyone want to sell that has a good one? We have a four month old and wife wants a bigger galley and more space for the little one's toys. Suggestions?

It's a Catch-22. I have a friend who upgraded from a Catalina 30 to a Hunter 37 Cutter when his Son was born. The larger boat proved to be more of a handful than he expected. He had his old boat all updated and under control. When they moved up, he realized that he has a bigger boat, that he isn't used to and he essentially lost a crew member...his Wife...who was now babysitting and not able to help. He would have been better off staying with his old boat for sure.

Good luck finding a newer 11.0....they are pretty rare from what I have seen.

There's a rumor out there S2 used ame epoxy resin in the hulls after 1984. At least in the smaller boats and ours. Ours has a perfect bottom. Also with a 1986 currently, we'd like to stay newer. I see them for sale with universal, volvo, and yanmars. Were all these engines standard when new??

Until this last Feb, I've been out of sailing for the last 12 yrs. I'm sure the issue of fiberglass resins has been flogged to death. Our 11.0A is a '79 and was in great shape when we bought it in Feb. Great as in a perfect bottom but had to do things as it was neglected and never upgraded with electronics/propane/brightwork/running rig etc. I discussed bottoms with the surveyor and his opinion was that the older resin "formulas" are seemingly doing better than the mid eighties/newer. I had a Gulfstar 44 until 2000 which was built in the early eighties and it had blisters galore. The former owner fixed as condition of sale. In '85 I had an 11.0A made in 1981 and it had a "few" blisters that I could keep up with. In '83-85, I had 9.2C made in '79 that was clean....In short, I would not dismiss the earlier S2s as there were not many made and you might be looking for awhile. (Depending on condition of course). The weak spot in both my 11.0A boats are/were the Volvo MD17 engines. Do NOT get raw water cooled. My latest is fresh water cooled and it runs good but burns some oil....Don't know history of other engines

Thanks. When we were looking for our 9.2c, we came across a few early eighties boats with blisters one from 1981 was covered with them. Might have to widen the search then.

Went to look at an 11 center cockpit Saturday. Everything is larger! Pass through to aft cabin on port and starboard sides. You don't have to duck either! Main salon seating is deeper and seats are longer. Storage on sides is deeper. That keel stepped mast is huge and right in the middle of salon with table that must swing to one side to access the v birth. That's our one big gripe about the cc version. It did have standing headroom under the boom, just enough for me at 5 ft ten. Big soft area around starboard chainplates though. The boat needs work should be gone through and doesn't shine like ours. Start all over rebedding again, ugh! I was impressed at the size now still need to see the aft cockpit 11...

I see somewhere in 1984 the bathtub was eliminated to make a pass through to aft cabin on the 11.0c. I like that pass thru. Decisions, decisions.
