Hello,
We are thinking that the 39 may be a good boat for us as our family grows. We have two children and our 28 foot is just getting too small. We sail in the Pacific Northwest and our typical trips last 2-3 weeks. I came across the 39 in Practical Sailor, which gives it a fairly good review (for them its great). There is one for sale close by that I would like to look at. Any comments? Problem areas? Things to look out for? Thanks very much!

I can only comment about the 1983 center cockpit '37. For the price this is actually a good family boat. The captain's cabin gives parents privacy. Two couples have spent a week at a time on mine without getting in eachother's way. I use a 130% headsail, a new 37.5hp universal, a folding prop, and 3 4D batteries. I don't win many races, but I can sail solo with no problem.

Hi, just cam across your post. I have been rather interested in the 39 too. Did you get it? I noticed that there was one for sale in Semiamoo for a while but haven't seen it listed in a few months. If you did get it how do you like it. How are those aft berths? I know I went aboard a Sun Fizz some years back but don't really remember what they felt like. Any chance I could take a look and hear your thoughts about the boat? I live in Seattle and happy to drive to wherever the boat is now. Thanks Andy

Hi,
We are very happy with our 39. The boat at Semiahmoo (Persuit) was the other one we considered. It was taken out of the water for the winter. The owner spends much of his time in Mexico, I'm not sure if it sold or not. You are welcome to view our boat. The rear staterooms are great. They do have new memory foam beds so they are very comfortable. Our boat "Morpheus" is now kept at Semiahmoo. After 12days in the North Georgia Strait, I can say we could be quite comfortable for extended trips. She sails great, is seakind and everything we had hoped for.

Thanks for replying Danmonk. I haven't had a look at this forum for while. Just saw your posting today. I would really love to see Morpheus, at your convenience of course. Please let me know if that would be OK and if so when would suit. I am not sure if you have an email address for me via this forum. Please try AndyHuntley@ymail.com

Again thanks for replying and I look forward to seeing Morpheus.

Andy
