With all the sailors out there, I'm thinking outside the "boat" at the moment. Yeah, the boat is still in the barn but check out my new sap boiler I made with my friends. The Ruby (Rubiayat) is in the barn for now but SWEET MAPLE SYRUP is on my mind!! See my contraption on you tube channel : blowinganddrifting .. I will stimulate the economy (the other post) this summer when we launch for a month long vacation on her. Big pancakes on board!!!

Where are you heading for a month? We will be up in the North Channel for a couple weeks in the beginning of July. Big fluffy pancakes and real maple syrup sounds great!!!

Pancakes and real maple syrup, sailboats and pretty ladies is a great combo, but, oh, that snow! I am SO GLAD I live in SoCal.

We used to make Maple Syrup years ago, used to get about 50 gal. syrup a year, all collected by hand and boiled in a large flat pan on a wood fire. Of course it was the best syrup ever being from Ontario.


We're headed to the North Channel ( Baie Fine ) second week of August.

pancakes are among the essential food groups on cruising boats. Anybody can fix them on any boat that has the means to cook. You can eat them hot with butter and syrup or cold and spread with what ever happens to be at hand, Jam is great.

A stove-top camping waffle maker is a great boat gadget. West has one for $46, but they have got to be cheaper somewhere else. Better waffles than at home.

Ross I have to agree. That is sunday morning breakfast for me and I always make more than I need so I do have some for snacking on later

nothing like pancakes and sausage for breaky on the boat, and of course canadian maple syrup rules, we just use the cheappy colemane one ontop of the stove and works great, just jump two at a time on eveyones plate, works really well especially if rafted up and well maybe a little hung over lol

Find them in an antique shop for 25.
