Has anyone used this device to get a better wifi signal? There site is at http://www.thewirie.com/

I'm looking at moving onto my boat for a couple months and need to have internet access. This is looking like the best option.

I've heard of some people using "Clear" but I've also seen horror stories about it so am a bit skeptical.

Cheers,
-Jared

There is also a directional (would work on a slip but not at anchor) antenna that is just some coax, a coffee can and a length of stiff copper wire. Gives 10 db gain if memory serves over a 30 degree angle.
thats a lot of gain for the money!

I will be installing a Bitstorm Bad Boy Wifi http://store.bitstorm.com/ on my boat this weekend. will let you know results. Another unit out there are Rogue Wifi if you don't want to go the home built version. Practical Sailor has a good article on these units.

installed bit storm wifi booster on boat and it works great. increased signal strength below. internet connection much stronger to the point i can stream movies from netflix either thru pc or wireless dvd player. one piece i may add later is to make it a wireless set up on the boat (bitstorm offers this addl equip). right now i am hardwired into a lan connection cable and have to switch between dvd or pc since both are wireless.
