Thethanol

I recently bought a used 42 passage and in the equipment locker I found a bottle of fluid marked with a masking tape label as "tethanol" . Does anybody know what this is for?

I did a Goggle search and found

some refernce that suggests it is an additive to fuel.

fuel additive as in biocide? Cause there was a bottle of another liquid in a commercially labelled container that identified the liquid in that bottle as a biocide but it did not list as its chemical makeup -tethanol
