Just curious if anybody has installed the Thetford 550MSD in their 26'? If so, do you have any pictures you could share? I am thinking about cutting out the board right behind the head area to recess the MSD a tad deeper. Not sure if that's a no no or not.

By "board," you do not mean "hull," right? ;):yikes:
If so, then you would have a really nice viewing port, um, "behind" you!

By the way, I removed the hanging locker cabinetry behind my portapotty on my 272. I recarpeted the hull behind it, and I hung a closet organizer for towels and blankets. It fits well. It also allowed me to push my potty back a couple inches.

Nope, didn't mean the hull. Meant the storage locker back board (part of the cabinetry).

Yup, this is what I was wondering so thank you. Just didn't know if I would screw up and dynamics if I removed part of it to get the MSD.

You don't happen to have a photo of this do you--just curious.

Not at the moment. The hanging locker consists of a Formica clad shelf just below the beckson opening port and a facia of teak ply with a large oval opening. I believe it was screwed through the bulkhead in the salon and v berth. We also removed the medicine cabinet above the hand sink in the head area and Velcroed a mirror to the new hull liner carpet.
We bought a cloth, hanging, closet organizer with 4 rectangular cubbies. We mounted a closet rod (dowel) between the two bulkheads on which to hang the organizer.

Andrew, is your portapotty a portable or MSD version? Wind'y 's installing an MSD which has a vent line and pumpout line that have to go somewhere...you don't mention those in your installation.

Yup and I already have the vent and deck pump our connection. Should be an easy install but just wanted to make sure by cutting out a tad of the cabinetry it wouldn't jeopardize any structural design of the boat.

Mine is a portapotty. I do not have the MSD with a vent and pumpout... yet! ;) I seem ever-ready to cut another hole for cool devices.
Removing the cabinet to gain some room should not hinder the installation of the MSD, and it should not require much to add the hoses. It will be easier with the cabinet removed and then to build a little channel to hide them.
