Thermostat problems

I purchased a 1994 H40.5 and one of the inherited problems was the refridgerator had a freon leak. I got that fixed and now it cools fine. The new problem, the thermostat will not shut off automatically. I open the fridge, turn the thermostat off, the compressor stops running, I then turn the thermostat back up and when it needs to begin the chilling process it starts fine, but then, again, will not shut off. Needless to say the batteries take a hit and I get little sleep. What is involved in installing a new thermostat? Bill Jones

thermostat replacement

It is really very easy. remove the housing from the wall. Take off the knob and remove the 9/16 nut on the shaft. The tstat can now be replaced.
