Hunter 33.5 Bodkin Creek - Bodkin YC
Thanks first to Roger for giving me some space on his page to share a little of our recent adventure. The timing of his travels down the Chesapeake provided a great opportunity to sail together for a few days. I looked forward to the more extended time since his previous passage through Chesapeake country. And, I couldn’t pass up the chance for the two ‘Tolkienesque’ boats – Strider and Valinor – to sail together. More will soon be posted at www.chesapeaketidings.com.
A late Friday arrival and a crab dinner offered the chance to catch up. Saturday was devoted to preparing and provisioning. We sailed Sunday early, bound for Leadenham Creek just up river from Tilghman Island and the Knapp’s Narrows lift bridge.
We went on to Cambridge with good sailing conditions on Sunday and anchored just off the town. With nasty weather moving in we took slips at the town marina first thing Monday morning and spent some of the day visiting a boat building museum. I’m sure Roger will tell you about the Tuesday sail (slog) up the Choptank and nice run down Bay to Solomons. With shifting weekend plans and Thursday weather looking problematic, it was time to part company. I headed out early Wednesday morning and motor sailed on flat water with light south winds back north to Dun Cove – another anchorage on the east side of Tilghman. More sailing ahead before heading back to my slip early November.
I will leave it for Roger to relay the details of this little adventure, but assure you all there was good food, good wines, great sailing and interesting conversations involved!:) If you get a chance to sail with him don't pass it up!
Thanks Roger, fair winds and will look for you on your return!
