Do you believe in reincarnation ? In each and everyone of us there must be something more than what we are or just seem to be. For as long as I can remember, I have felt a kenship with water and a desire to sail with the winds. I am a captain of a Catalina Capri 14.2 and am sailing again. On my last voyage, my first officer (my 13 year old son) and I were caught up in irons. Not a breeze, or whisp of wind came into our sails. In what would seem at the time to be a wasted voyage, would come to be one of the best moments between us. With no wind, we let our sails hang, watching and looking for some assurance that a breeze would still come to save our day. As the hours of no wind went by, we begin to talk about things, listen to things, and observe small things. In short, all of our five senses were strained, as we awaited the wind. Later, my son would tell me, this was one of the best times we spent together. I felt the same. Sailing with or waiting for the winds have brought a special bond to all those who sail. Every generation has a chance to learn it all over again. Captain Ron L. Dixon "Zora Lee"
