.5 past light speed...

Yeah - and I'll bet she can also make the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs...
What I want to know is, when does he have time to sail, when it takes him two hours to rig up with 4-6 people? What if he has fewer than that?!?

It takes about two hours with 4-6 people to do all of the rigging.

OMG>>>>how complicated is his rigging to raise the mast?

Maybe his rigging can handle all 13 sails at the same time. Lol.

12 people????????

I have something very crude and distastful to say. But Mom always told me if I didn't have something nice to say not say anything.................screw it! I never listened to her anyway.

Maybe he's a rocket scientist.

Yea I'll burn for that one.

I believe lately some have tried the 8-10 people on board with disasterous results.

Quick - somebody do the math. Can he get 14 knots with all 13 sails flying at the same time?!? Maybe he's got something there...
LOL!!

A 1972 Macgregor would have been a V21. So where is he getting the three extra feet? And a 30' mast? The V21 mast was 24'.

What a loser!

All the funny comments aside, that looks like a really nice V21 in good shape. Probably worth his asking price, though I'd like to see a kick-up rudder instead of that plank looking thing he shows. And the interior needs a serious cleaning/painting.

In fact, you could probably make all your money back buying the package, then selling the excess canvas off to Bacon.

It's a Venture 24. Replaced with the V-25 mid 70's and later Mac 25. This guy must be into the rum keg. 14 kts? UH-UH. I pegged my 12kt meter once downwind with a giant following sea and 525 sq ft of chute up. Doesn't even list beam (8 ft) mast 28 ft not 30 or other vitals such as weight, swing keel, fractional rig, etc. It lookks to be in pretty good shape. Spinnaker pole is bracketed on deck. North Sails, very nice. Looks like a rainbow of other rags. takes me about 20 minutes to rig and launch. 10 people? Must be very small. 3 hp outboard terribly underpowered. should have at least 7.5. Fair Winds and Full Sails...All 13 of 'em

I had a 1970 Venture 24 and can confirm that it is in fact a V24. As with most of the Ventures, it is a light boat. Downwind with a lot of sail, it will surf and you might be able to get some high speeds with enough wind. Someone else said he has seen 12 kts. in a V25...not that much difference. I'm not sure how fast my boat was, as I only had a mainsail and genny. My best speed was close hauled, not down wind. The boat for sale is in sad shape on the inside, in my opinion, and I wouldn't think about putting so many people on the boat.

Mac Speed

I have had my Mac Venture 25 (1979) as fast as 65 miles per hour a couple of times...... Well that was behind the truck on Hwy 101 heading to the SF Bay. But as far as on the water.... I think Ihave had mine to 7.5-8.0 knots max. But that is in the bay and I had all sails up and 4 people on board. That was measured on the Garmin GPS.
