Those of you who haven’t been following us on my SPOT ( http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=0AckC5GqogSJmieLPEtBunICxVztYVRlg ) must think Strider sailed off the edge of the earth. My reservations about resuming this account while cruising with as delightful a companion and conversationalist as Dreameagle have been confirmed. I figured there would be a rainy day but we have had perhaps the nicest stretch of fine weather I can remember in over half a century of Maine cruising.

There is also the “Roger Weather Bubble” that the friends I cruised in company with on my first ICW trip used to joke about. Thunderstorms and rain always seemed to go just north or south. The joke started when we were anxiously watching the radar an saw a line of frontal boomers part and go around us like water around a rock in a stream. We expected to wake to a morning of rain here in Bar Harbor but instead there is sun for the spectacular run around to Southwest Harbor.

We had perfect weather for our time east of Schoodic and, as always, I was as impressed with that country as if I were seeing it for the first time. Taking Strider south this fall began to seem more and more in the cards as we talked and an earlier return to the Hudson is essential to that plan so we decided to leave Canada for another year. That decision was also helped by a change in the weather.

We have some stories to tell but I’ll leave those and a fuller account of the cruise for the inevitable rainy day that must come along sometime, weather bubble or no. In the meantime, you can see albums of our cruise pictures here:
