So, I got the 12-volt/20 amp model. Thanks for your advice
To be honest I thought for a second I had screwed up and ordered the wrong model. I must be getting old, I had to go back to the site to remember my reasoning for why I selected the regular model. This web link has seperated $885 from a few people that I know now. Glad we can share good deals on the internet. Cheers!

my honda 2000 has 2700 hours on it and runs like the day i tested it out new. It's a little miracle worker. however I am very disappointed in the 12v circuit it does not charge my batteries very good. A separate charger works better in my opinion. It will run my 5200 btu a/c, 5 cubic foot frig, and a 40 amp charger all at once.

I didn't price the model with the 30-amp plug, and already looking back, maybe I should have- for the shore-power cord convenience on the boat. Realizing the DC output is probably actually 12 volts as stated (same as outboards), it's enough to boost a battery enough so you can run some electric items and get you back home. The gen will still run the on-board battery charger.... I ordered mine on Wednesday, so I'm sure it's "in the mail".

Honda generator question

Perhaps you guys could be a little bit more clear on what you're talking about with the 30 A plug "model". From what I understand there's an output and to plug it into the boat's 30 A inlet you'd need an adapter anyway from the generator. Please help me understand the option you're discussing. A simple 12V outlet wouldn't do much of anything to charge batteries directly.

One model of the Honda eu2000iA has the 12-volt, 8-amp output, plus two, 20-amp AC outlets. The other model (maybe the "Companion"?) Has one 20-amp and one 30-amp (twist lock) outlet. NO 12-volts.

The 12-volt model is $885 delivered. I don't know what the 30-amp one is, but I should have asked. In either case the AC is 2000 watts max, so the 12-volt is a plus.

I called and ordered the Honda 2000 generator Wednesday afternoon from WiseSales.com. They said 5 days delivery from Indiana to Maryland, but FedEx came in 2 days- Friday afternoon. All seems in good order. The packaging all looked original, but there was a hint of gas smell in the tank, so I assume they tested it at the factory. A word of WARNING! The gen was in the factory Honda box, which was inside a brown box with packing peanuts. Make sure you do not have "static cling"! With the Honda box removed, the outer box was still half-full of peanuts.

I looked at my Camping World catalog and they list the 2 20 amp model for $1000 and the 30 amp model for $1150. I says that the 30 amp is specifically for running with another eu2000i for added load capability. Not sure what they mean by specifically?
