Sad story gets worse
I read a piece today about the owners of this boat. They are both retired military he and his girlfriend. The sold their house and most other items to buy the boat. This is(was) their 'HOME'. He has been told by the authoraties that he has 3 days to get the boat moved. After that they will come in and move it for him and forward the bill to him(them). That I find to be really really heavy handed in this situation. Perhaps someone in government their has taken a liking to the boat and knows they can get it for a song. How can they possibly be expected to get in touch with the appropriate people to get it off the beach in such a short time esp being in a strange and unfamiliar area? Makes me SICK. She may or not float as he said they actually bouced over the rocks on the way into the beach and that may be side down in the sand which may very well be holed. Oh yeah their insurance refuses to cover any salvage costs as they were out in the storm.
If it were me and she wasn't holed I'd try and bring in an excavator and dig out a trench from low tide up to her and then dig around her and when the tide came in try and ease her back out into the water. The rudder could be fixed temporarily enough to allow for steerage under power.
Just way to sad
