The one armed electrician...

OK so not a boat but everything I used is "marine"..

I got sick and tired of not working with my hands so have been pushing myself pretty hard to learn do projects with one hand. The ladies have a beautiful garden up at the farm/homestead but when we are gone during the week we have no way to water it. The property is 100% off grid..Designing the off grid array and battery system now..

For my first project I designed this little solar pump house that will feed 12 leaker hoses that rundown each row of plantings. We are using a 330 gallon IBC tank that we fill with water before we go home. The 12V pump is driven by a timer and the battery is charged by 200W of solar. The Pumphouse will face due South and will get unobstructed sun all day.

this whole thing was built either from my wheel-chair or my rolling mechanics stool. I use a small vise to hold the wire and make crimps etc. I also used Bed it tape to hold screws to the driver bit..All in all this took about 200X longer than with two hands but I'm getting stuff done...:)Just a few more wire ties and its ready to bring North.. The only thing I had to purchase was the 12V timer. Everything else was stuff I had kicking around the shop..

Goes to show, you can't keep a good man down! Cool project, nicely done.

As you work through your recovery you'll learn many adaptive ways to get things done. Sometimes it is more brain work than physical to find the way forward. Press on!

Still kickin' ass ... way to go! Busier than a one-armed paper hanger as they say ;)

Nice to hear from you & glad you're starting your comeback, both on this and helping on boat electric stuff. Thanks so much for everything you have done for all of us over the decades.

Thanks for the offer I'd love to but, my balance is nowhere near good enough. Have not even been out on my brothers power boat yet.. Hopefully someday I can take you up on that..
Totally understand.... when the time is right.... sing out

The heavy lifting is done by the brain, a working pair of hands are more easily found.

wow. As has been said, I'd struggle to do that 2 handed.

I do find your butyl is great for holding stuff in place

Dude, awesome work. I can barely get a wire tie on with both hands.

Praying for your continuing recovery

@Maine Sail - What a great suggestion. "I also used Bed it tape to hold screws to the driver bit." I never thought of using Bed-it - a multi use product. Have to bring some home from the boat to the garage.
