Go bigger
We originally started out looking at a 340. It was too small, not enough displacement. Then, it was to the 380. It only had one head. We settled on the 410 which had everything we were looking for. Believe me, go the biggest you can afford. They are more stable with the increased displacement, have larger engines, more tankage and simply more comfortable.I saw the 36, 38, 41 and 44 at the Long Beach, CA boat show last week. They are all very nice, but the 44 had it hands down over the others. This new crop of boats all have the large cavernous locker along the port side of the cockpit. It is super. But, the tradeoff is to make the aft cabin much smaller and more cramped. The design also eliminated the 360 degree access to the motor as found on the earlier models. Both of these issues would cause me to want the largest boat I could afford. The new designs have really improved the heads with shower doors. The galleys are more functional with additional storage and better counter fiddles. One of the best things Hunter has done is to move the water manifold up under the galley sink for easier access. Another thing done was to put the two headsail winches back by the wheel for easier single handed use. I really wish I had those on our boat.John Richards/v Jack's Place
