The most expensive sail in the world!

I have a copy of that jpg file posted on our group that shows the Vega sail plan.
I think it has all the sail measurements in that document.

How safe do you think it is to just order sails straight from that document?
I am getting some really low quotes from the web as compared to the local lofts. I guess the local loft people will visit your boat and measure.

But if we have a Vega, shouldn't the I, J, E, etc be the same as what is on that document?

Roy,
I did all my sail measuring for the sailmaker who designs my sails. I
used a form off Far East Sails website.

Scroll to the bottom and all the various sail measurement forms are
there. I had more than enough info for the main, jib, and drifter for
the sailmaker to do the design work. There are critical measurements
that seem to be different for every boat, so it's well worth making
the measurements on your own vessel.

I got my first lesson in "measure first" when a boat I built in the
basement wouldn't go through the door. That was 50 years ago ...
maybe it's still there!

Peter,
That's funny. My friend did that too..
Later, he sold everything, bought a 70 foot boat in Austrailia (from the chesapeake), sailed it around over there....
.... Then one night sunk it off the coast of Singapore (he says in like 2 minutes) and floated around in a life raft for 3 days.

"Did that too" meaning he built a small sailboat in the basement of his townhouse, then couldn't get it out. Think he broke down some of his wall to get it out.

Patrick, Thanks for this lead. If I can't get the sensor on my tack
to work I will give this a try. Craig
