The Infamous Wing Swing Keel

Here is a picture of the famous 1985 wing swing keel. I quess it is really a shoal keel with a centerboard. If the picture doesnt come out you can view it under the pictures section for the hunter 23. If there is any response I will take underwater pictures of the keel next time I go out.

I am envioius. Obviosly pointing is not much of a problem with the keel down. Since I had heard about the swing keel version of the H23 I have been curious to see it. Thanks for posting the picture. How does she sail with the keel up? Since my lake is about 6' at the max, and a lot of areas that I sail in about 3'; if my 23 were like yours, my keel would be up a lot of the time. So my envy is tempered by the fact that if I had one like yours, I would have to find a new lake to sail her in. But still - what a kool looking boat.Have you ever tried turning her just by raising and lowering the keel? I used to play games like that with my old AFC 17 that had a swing keel, until the rest of my crew (family) decided I was nuts.

Thanks Jim,i recently purchased this model and have not seen the centerboard yet since i have not pulled my boat out of the water yet. it seems i can point into the wind just off 30 degrees with the centerboard down and the sails extremely tight.aaa
