Charles. I have not adjusted the mounts since shaft was aligned. They are bolted down to the boat. There is no adjustment in the shaft. I have unbolted the engine from the mounts but the mounts themselves have not moved so the engine should go back in exactly the same place. There is not adjustment where the engine bolts to the mounts.

Mark. Read Steves articles. The shaft needs to be centered in the stern tube and held centered. If you are in the water pull it up til it stops push it down til it stops and block it solid in the middle of that travel. Same side to side. If not on the water pull the stuffing box forward a use small wood wedges to hold the shaft centered.
The motor gets moved to match the shaft which is held steady and centered throughout the alignment procedure.
Don't understand “not adjustment where motor bolts to the mounts”. Yanmar mounts are adjustable vertically with a nut on the stud. They are also adjustable horizontally - one of the two bracket holes is slotted so the mounts can be turned left and right in an arc.
