With a great deal of gratitude, no small amount of sadness, and a tiny bit of envy, it is my honor to announce that Peggie Hall, our Head Mistress, is retiring from her forum.

Peggie started with us in the late 90's -- you'll see her posts go back to 1999 which is as far back as we have data -- and has been a big part of SailboatOwners.com ever since. As of today, we have more than 16,000 marine sanitation posts... and that's just in her forum! She has also helped countless others in all the other forums, too.

Through all these years, Peggie has been a delight to work with. She has contributed many great ideas to SBO, pushed us to grow, and kicked our rear ends when we needed it. Frankly, it's difficult for me to imagine the site without her.

That said, she has promised to drop in now and then to do a guest forum and help those of us who are MSD-challenged.

You may have noticed that the The Head Mistress Forum has been moved to the Shared Forums group and renamed Marine Plumbing and Sanitation. But no matter what we call it, it will always be the Head Mistress Forum to those who know Peggie.

Please take a moment to post your thanks and wish her well!

I remember when Peggy first started posting

But I don't remember the date but it was a log time ago. Well, it doesn't seem like it was that long ago.

It wasn't often that a woman would post here and when she posted something about marine sanitation there were a few guys that would take her to task. And I remember one little series of posts where they gave her a hard time probably thinking that some woman wouldn't know what she was talking about. Well, we've all seen who has the respect in that department due to knowledge and a nice demeanor with the keyboard.

One of these days I'd like to convert my head over to some kind of an electric flush system and would like to pick her brains for input. At the rate I'm going though, I don't know if that'd ever happen, but it'd sure be nice. Probably need a bigger boat with a backup head incase the electric one failed though.

Well, Peggy, we'll really miss you and all those good comments.

Just wondering, you didn't happen to have a bunch of Apple stock, did you???

Good luck in retirement but I'll bet you'll keep busy at doing something, and hopefully that means coming back for a visit now and then.

Well I for one can attest that Peggy was here in 1998. When I began my research into Hunters, then cutters, I would read "Peggy Posts". Then I bought my 1979 H37C that year and the work began. A very early post was to ask Peggy about that smelly black bag hanging in a v-berth locker. Many, many posts and replies later I had a complete new sanitation system. Thanks Peggy. Enjoy the next phase. As one who just started his ninth year of retirement I can tell you it goes twice as fast as the last phase. I'll miss you.

Funny you should write. Just this weekend I used her sage advice on restoring the freshwater tank (Clorox, vinegar series) to great effect. She has done a great job helping us through all manner of distasteful problems. Perhaps she can work on the Middle East now.

Peggy;

Welcome to the ranks of retired manufacturers, reps, dealers,etc.. It will be a big adjustment as it was for me. If ever in North Carloina or in 2 years near Clifton Forge, VA, stop by and "sit a spell". I drink wine while moonshine is off my list now.

I've enjoyed The Head Mistress forum and learned any things from it. I have sparkling clean and pure water because I religiously sanitize my system each spring with Peggy's technique. We also changed over to a Sea Era electric head on Peggy's advice. We're still fighting those digital tank gauges, but when the diesel fuel part of that gauge bites the dust, we are going to use her recommendation to replace them.

Have a great retirement and thanks for all your insight!

Smooth seas and following winds, Peggy. You helped me replace a holding tank, hoses, and two manual heads for electric ones on my '92 Legend 43. All's well. Thanks
