Yes. My father recognized that 50 plus feet is not a small boat, but compared to crossing an ocean with Norwegian Cruise Lines, 53' is very small. Most of the time, he was also solo, and that too factored into his answer.

Very moving post, My father past a few years ago a after reading this I think your father and mine were both cut from the same cloth, life long sailors with a wealth of life long experience and knowledge. Hopefully time will heal the broken hearts left behind.
