I'm lucky enough to have 7 grandkids between the ages of 15 to 22. 5 boys and 2 girls that have sailed with my wife and I since they were big enough to swim.
On my "bucket list" is a sailboat trip from the boat launch to Grand Coulee Dam, a round trip of 204 miles. In late May and early June, when school is out, the grandkids will join me one or two at a time and sail a leg of the trip. I am planing on about 14 to 18 days. There will be a store or marina that we will pass just about every day where we can get needed extras, change crew members and meet parents.
My wife will be the shore crew/bus driver. It was something about holding a bar of soap in her teeth while bathing in the lake.
I don't know who is more excited, the kids or me. We sail a 1982 San Juan 23 that we have set up for 7 to 10 trips so this should work out great. It also has an inclosed head for the girls. Lake Roosevelt is a National Park Service administered resevoir. It has very little privately owned shore land (about 85% undeveloped land) so you can beach or anchor just about anywhere and on week days there is virtually no boat traffic.
What an adventure.
