On my small waterline boat I get regen from my drive. Once she starts moving at 4 knots you free wheel the prop then start backing off the throttle & you're making electricity. Typically I'll see 55-60 watts. The most I've seen is a little over 100 watts which is 2 amps @ 48 volts. I don't rely on this for power, just thought it was kind of neat.
Doesn't seem like much but if one was sailing across an ocean, the amps would add up in a 24 hour day. Add that to solar and/or a wind generator, you have a pretty sustainable boat.
