Just wandered up to get a coffee this morning and it looks like the WM closures are happening.

This is the Port of Everett store. Site of 2300 boats. If they can’t make it here it’s doubtful their marketing plan is going to work anywhere.

Last I heard, our WM store in Mandeville La. (north shore of Lake Pontchartrain), will remain open along with the larger store in New Orleans. I like to be able to get things like lines and electrical stuff when I need stuff. The store in Pensacola, Fl. is also staying open as of latest news.

I hope you are correct. I was in the Mandeville store on July 1 and was told by an associate that they had just received notification, two days earlier, that the store would be closing. Also informed me that the New Orleans & Biloxi stores would remain open. On July 9 I received an email announcing the Mandeville store's closure with 20-40% off in store inventory. Ironically, Mandeville was not on the initial list of 39 stores slated for closure. Hate to see them close. Again, hope you have later / better sources than me & that the store will remain open.

Is there another WM store in close proximity to the store at Port Everett? In the case of our Mandeville store, it is approximately 40 minutes from the New Orleans WM location. I Can see the rationale of closing Mandeville with the New Orleans location being the metro area population center of 1.5 to 2 million folks.

Good question, but I doubt it. John will no doubt reply. When the list of closings was announced last month, I recall one closing was Bellingham. here is NOTHING close to Bellingham, nothing...

I’ve been in the local WM store once in 16 years and only to visit one of the employees. If they want to know why many are closing, they can ask me.

On the SE Coast of Florida we have stores in Ft. Pierce, Jensen Beach, Stuart, Tequesta/Jupitor, Palm Beach and Ft. Lauderdale. I can't imagine that all will remain open.
I think West Marine would like to become more of an online store. I think they see Amazon as their real competitor. West would probably like to drop ship from manufacturers more and lose a lot of the cost of inventory not to mention leases, insurance and all the costs of having a brick & motor store. They will need to be more competitive with pricing. They already price match the other large marine retailers.

There is North Seattle and one near Bellevue as well as Ballard. Only the Ballard focuses on boat gear. The others sell clothing.

I stopped in to see what was selling and the had stuff stacked in the aisles. The staff said they emptied a warehouse. Big signs everywhere about 30-50% off. A gallon of Shell oil for a diesel was listed at 34.99 with 30% off. Making it $24. Napa down the street is $20 everyday and sometimes $15.

The thing that caught me by surprise is that the Mandeville WM location was not included in the initial list of 39 store closures, shortly after the chapter 11 announcement. Guess corporate is taking another look. Nevertheless, sorry to see it closing. Hoping that the remaining stores remain open.

It is indeed sad. I last stopped by my local store to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. When I next came by to wish everyone a happy new year, the store was empty. No notice, no sale, no chance to say goodby.

Alexandria, VA store is gone but the one in Deal, MD appears to remain open although lots of shelves emptying. "we can order it or go online"

Jensen Beach store is closing. There’s a banner announcing that. I happened tp drive by Ft. Pierce store yesterday and it didn’t look open.
