I am replacing some of my teak/holly flooring and I'm having a terrible time getting the color to match. The existing floor has a amber/honey look while the new flooring is brown. I took some pieces to Sherwin William and they couldn't find anything even close (they have done an excellent job in the past at matching stains for other woods.) Any suggestions on what to use on teak to get a amber glow to it? Thanks The picture at the link is what I'm trying to match.

Have you varnished or polyed the new teak? It takes on a totally different color with just a clear finish on it. Mine went from a very dull grey, to a really rich dark honey color. Just a thought.

Yes, I've tried spar varnish, clear poly, amber poly, cherry stain & colonial maple with all of the above. The present wood almost has a orangish glow.

throw rug

I had the same problem, I finally gave up and attributed it to the original coating (polyurethane??) yellowing. I just position a throw rug over the seam, nobody can tell unless I point it out!;)
