Anchored up in Big Lagoon at Pensacola, and there is some event going on this afternoon. There are over 50 sailboats in here, and quite a few power boats. Wind is blowing from the west pretty good, and a fair chop on the bay. Watching some try to anchor up is a genuine hoot. Watched one guy try and try and try. Think he ended up losing the anchor, his wife probably got tired of his yelling, and he just packed it up and went on home. Tow boats was out cruising for business. Seemed mostly the idiots were on the smaller/junkier boats, but watched an Island Packet give it up too and leave. Had several boats go by sideways, dragging as they went. Went to the beach this morning before the crowds arrived, and wanted to go back this afternoon, but was afraid to leave the boat. If it got smacked, I at least wanted to be here to see it happen,

Well I have worked inside all day. And it was gorgeous outside and they were racing at the lake. Now I have NASCAR on and they keep talking about the "lucky dog". Sitting here and looking at your picture, reading your story, I would say YOU are the lucky dog.

When will you be in the Tarpon Springs area? I need to get down to Port Richey to check on the boat and do some sailing. Probably in two weeks after I finish emptying this house. Tarpon Springs is a decent one night stop. The municipal docks are right at the sponge docks. Not very nice but very reasonable I think. Just short finger piers with four point tie off. Or you could come into the American Marina where I am. But only at high tide. It would be fun to compare the two 37s. I think we discussed the fact that Seidelman and Cherubini were buds.

Fishing

It's early sunday morning and suppose to go fishing on a buddies power boat it's storming out pretty bad, think it's a wash out.
I am here looking at Radar at home and Charlotte Harbor is showing red and yellow with heavy green but they are waiting for possible clearing.
It's been like this pretty much every morning canceling most out door activity and than clears in the afternoon some what.

Re: Fishing

Phil you're missing out! There is the Spanish Navy 4-masted tall sailing ship Elcana just a couple of miles east of you at the Port of Pensacola near Palafox Pier. It is awesome! I spent 3 hours in line to go aboard and tour the upper decks. The Elcano is the 3rd largest tall ship in the world. Graduates of the Spanish Naval Academy are "required" to serve a tour of duty aboard her. The Alcano is in Pensacola to help us celebrate Pensacola's 450th aniversary of it's settlement. The king and queen of Spain were here a couple of months ago. BrianW

hey Ed, last time i was in Tarpon Springs there was no docking at the sponge docks? I went to capn Jacks rest. I have found the spongedocks to be unfriendly to transient boats. He might do better to go to Hooters or Catches right at the bridge in New Port Richey. If Hooters keep away from the sandbar by the boat ramp. Its been lousy weather-rain for days. Had a nice sail last weekend on the international tempest 22

Nice & Easy,
We had a good sail Saturday on Lake Erie too. My dock neighbors with their Irwin 23 and me in my P23 sailed out and around Kellys Island and back. A bit chilly still as the water is only 61 degrees. Once around the green can on the North side, we sailed straight back to Sandusky doing 6 knots. Awesome fun.

Ha! That's nothing. Two Thursdays ago, the Willoughby Racers committee boat couldn't get two anchors to hold in 'lLittleBay', and race was delayed until a wiser cap'n gave up his place in the race to be DS (designated scapegoat) for the night. Race delay= 40 minutes.
