Yup, not a socialist. Socialists are certainly not anti-taxation! She's gun-phobic, and raises her kids to believe that cops kill people without reason, which indicates the far left. But the far left (essentially synonymous with socialists) love nothing more than taxes. The far right are often vociferously anti-taxation, but not to the point of labeling it "theft", and they obviously aren't anti-gun or anti-cop. Libertarians DO in fact refer to taxation as "theft", but Libertarians are pro- Second Amendment and thus not likely to be afraid of firearms, or police.

So, I give up. She must be an anarchist!

Only legitimate complaint I have ever heard about a Coast Guard boarding is the black scuffs the boots leave.
The boot soles are supposed to be non marking but they are not really and the second after polish hits it the leather leaves a mark.

Well, you might want to have a reasoned discussion with a progressive or someone on the left. If you did you would find that this statement is a glittering generality that is based on myth not fact.

Guilty as charged. That was a generality, tainted with exaggeration.

So we should drift away from the politics of the situation. Except that we might all agree the woman who posted the diatribe was a bit off the edge of reality. And the posts (not here) were certainly ones that were a far cry from reasoned.

The CG from its inception until about 1924 had safety, maintaining navigation aids, and rescue as their primary mission. It wasn't until about 1924 that interdiction became their focus. The powers to be then decided that the CG should go after the entrepreneurs supplying the speakeasies up and down the coast. Their drug interdiction activities continue today.

Not yet, that's on today's agenda.

I've been reading about prohibition and smuggling on Lake Ontario. Interesting stories. Prohibition changed the CG's mission from safety and rescue to drug (alcohol) interdiction.

Next year is the 100 anniversary of the Volstead Act, the enabling legislation for the 18th Amendment.
