I finally got around to building myself a bimini top for my little boat. I like it because it doesen't dominate the cockpit. Take a look at it on the realated link. I'll gladly answer any questions. My boat is a 22 but the Beanie Top could be modified for just about any yacht. ljp Saint Benedict, #14686

Nice Top!

Very Nice! What kind of cost?? I usually use a small tarp over the boom for shade, silver side up. It helps keep things cool but I think my boat would look really nice with a top like that, nice job!

Classy frame on that bimini!

Hey Louis - That bimini sure dresses up your C22 - nice work! Thanks for posting the photo, Trevor

Top

Excellent work Louis, and your Catalina looks to be in fine condition also. Adding the wood frame instead of aluminum really makes the top look sharp. Is that your jib tracks behind the base of the cover? Rick 73’#2113

Jib Track

Thanks for the complement Rick especially from another Louisiana C22 owner. And yes, those are jib tracks mounted by the original owner. As to how well they work, I have nothing to compare them to, so I don't know if they are better or worse than deck mounted ones. They work well for me. Also the Beanie Top mounts to them too and can then be positioned farther aft. GOD! I wish those thunder storms would quit! ljp

Cost?

Thanks Troy. I made the top for less than $50.00, but I only had to buy a few of the parts. Even if you had to pay for everything it should still be less than $100.00. If you didn't click on "Bimini," do so as I have a script of its construction. Feel free to email me offline if you need more info. ljp

Bimini Mounts

On the boat, I used four horn cleats from West Marine. One set on the inside of the boat as back up plates. I use those to hang things on. With the bimini off the boat, the outside cleats can be use to tie off or hang fenders. I thought of using small stainless u-bolts and that would have worked well too. The frame has 2" x 1/4" eye bolts at the base. The eyebolts are lashed to the cleats with 1/4" line. Good luck! ljp
