Yes that is a tounge in cheek comment. So my 1993 23.5 that I recently purchased received a good scrubbing while anchored in a cove on Lake Keowee. I used plain water because I knew that simply scrubbing it was going to be 85% of what was needed, and I didn't want to polute the lake. I did get the non-skid pretty clean, but I had a hard time with some spots that had a little mildew. So now I have scrubbed it, as well as ordered white scotchbrites to clean the finished surface. But I don't want to polute the lake! So what have you used that is bidegradable and such to clean your boat? I will happily try home brews to accomplish this, but hate to resort to Joy or something along those lines. Thanks in advance!

Joys of Trailering

One of the great joys of trailering, while the boat is "docked" in the driveway the pressure washer makes short work of cleaning the decks. Also great to have all of my tools handy for doing those odd jobs. Rob "Kinship"

How About "Simple Green"

I use a weak solution of SG and believe it is biodegradable. Now I will go out to the shed and check the specs on the bottle!

I used a 50% solution of Simple Green

It is not only biodegradable but will NOT harm the environment. Our drinking water comes from our lake so even though SG will breakdown (biodegradable) I checked to make sure that it would NOT harm the little fishes and that when it came out of my ice tray at home that it wouldn’t ruin my good whiskey. It does a great job cleaning too.

Cleaning non-skid...

... is a breeze with an electric power washer. Just plain water does the deed. No fuss, no muss, no detergents, and only takes a few minutes and you are ready to sail with the cleanest non-skid around. A 1500 psi unit sells for about $100 (less on sale) and you'll use this device for all sorts of cleaning tasks on your boat and at home.

Yep, Get a Karcher power washer

Costco had them earlier in the summer. I bought an 1600 PSI electric unit this year. They do a great job cleaning the deck, and best of all, no scrubbing down on my hands and knees. You do get some spray backs, so you do get a bit wet. Karcher suggested using their liquid additives such as cleaners and soap, but I just used plain water. Since the power is not really strong enough to eat through wood, unless you just hold it there for a long period, it works great on the teak grab rails and seats too. I have also used it on my wood deck at home, patio, water fountains, bird baths .....

Soft Scrub was great, but not anymore

Be careful where you use it. They now have bleach in them. I don't know how many pairs of jeans/shorts/shirts now have white spots on them. We use them in the kitchen, and now we have white spots on our bath robes, jammies, etc. We have been searching for Soft Scrub without bleach, but just can't find them around there. I know they still makes the original version, but it seems all the stores have switched to the bleach version. So, don't get it too close to colored material other than white.
