Had the boat out for its first run yesterday. Running at 2500 rpm, the cooling hose running out of the block and into the exhaust manifold came off at the manifold.

Nothing like 100+ degree water blasting all over the engine compartment to wake you you up.

No harm, no foul however! Engine off, hose on, clamp tightened. Carry on!

I've had that happen with a Yanmar 3GM. It turned out there was a build up of carbon at the mixer which caused pressure build up. I ran a small s/s spring in a drill through the mixing elbow after removing the hose fitting. I sprayed it with carb cleaner at the same time. Worked fine and I did it annually after that.

Good idea!

We spent $800 on a rebuilt manifold and mixing elbow in the fall it had basically coked up, corroded away etc (1978 2QM15 so I cut it some slack for still being a trooper!)

Other than that it is a strong engine though i sure would like to rid the old girl of the white smoke....

I had that happen

I had a very similar situation a few years ago. Exhaust hose had a split in it. Sprayed hot salt water all over everything. Easy fix at first. But after six months or so started having electrical gremlins. Seems like hot salt water and electrical connections do not like each other very much. Be prepared.
