You CAN destroy a nest(in hopes they will nest elswhere), but not if there are eggs in it.
Osprey omelets aren't bad but I prefer spotted owl.

For spreader protection Google Bird B Gone. I have them on both sets of spreaders and they eliminate the bird problem at that level. On the masthead I have 3 or 4 wire spikes pointed up and they effectively discourage the osprey and cormorants from there.

This was just in our paper, as we get alot of ospreys around the Chesapeake Bay- including the top of every marker. You CAN destroy a nest(in hopes they will nest elswhere), but not if there are eggs in it.
Exactly, and the eggs were laid long ago, and the fledges hatched. The birds building nests now are teenagers and we know how annoying they can be.

Had 2 rubber snakes on cabin top last year. I think birds sat on the boom and used them as targets or toys . rarely found them where we left them. At home, some birds started perching on pickup truck in the driveway. Put plastic owl on fence next to the truck, they perched on him. Moved the truck to the street in front of the house for 2 weeks, guess they lost interest.
