I really appreciate all responses. I did check out Don Guillette's "Sail Trim" forum and have printed up a bunch of his stuff. I do have a centerboard boat, so I should probably make sure the centerboard is going down all the way. Perhaps a knot in the line when she's all the way down will be a good telltail. I'm still curious how close to the wind I should expect to get if all is tuned as well as it can be. Quick note to Don Evans; Don, my family has an island on Georgian Bay just south of 12 Mile Bay. Perhaps next summer I could buy you lunch and pick your brain on all the cute things you've done with your boat. I've enjoyed all your postings and photos. Particularly like the mahogany rudder. I might be building my own soon, as mine is warped and the fiberglass is not in great shape.

Wow...Talking About Getting Away From It All

From Westport to Georgian Bay is quite a journey. Ac tually I know 12 mile bay fairly well as I have launched from Moose-Deer Point a few times, and I have boating friends who berth there. Home basin for "Pangia", is less than an hour away. I'd be happy to host a visit and sail on Lake Muskoka if you would like. If you wish to get together next year, drop me a line and I'll pass along my phone number. As far as angles to the wind, I concur with Paul M., about 40 degrees for my boat. Best of luck. Don
