Some of us were sorta forced into "veteranship" but most of us in that situation served with pride, efficiency, dedication and discipline.. I learned a LOT and I am happy to have been there..
Voluntary or not … still grateful for your service. In fact, it's admirable that you served with that distinction despite being "pressed" into service. I'm old enough to have registered for the draft but Nixon ended the draft just a week before my birthday. I don't remember thinking that I would ever be drafted. It seemed like there was so much pressure to end the war that I didn't expect to be pressed into it. As it turned out, my lottery number was 341 for men born in 1955.
