Per your instructions I replaced the old head (1995) in my boat with a new one about a month ago. Also put a strainer in the head intake line and left a vinegar solution in the intake hose. Boat set for three weeks. Wife and I went up this weekend and she was pleased with the lack of odors in the head area. Used KO in the tank after pumping out this morning plus small amounts in shower sump and bilge. If the boat smells sweet when we go back in a few weeks, then success. However, due to heat and wanting to get home, I didn't measure the holding tank hoses for the sleeves. I will get that done, but not sure when. I think that the dog days of summer have arrived here and we wont be doing to much on the boat until Sept.

KO in Bilge

I for one didn't know you could use KO in the bilge without damaging any wiring or hoses. As a big KO Fan, I'll give it a try. Fred Miller S/V M/ SQUARED

Whoa...

Why would you think K.O. would damage anything in a bilge when it's safe to flush through the toilet? There's nothing caustic in it...no chemicals either. You can take a bath in the stuff...just don't drink it! K.O. CAN be used to get rid of any organically caused odor at a specific site--after the site has been cleaned and dry or barely damp. After a spill, or in musty lockers. But it's NOT a cleaning product, for the bilge or anywhere else. Nor is it a substitute for detergent, water, elbow grease and a thorough rinsing out of all the dirty water in a bilge. For an area as large as bilge, diluted with bilge water, you'd need to add several gallons every week to even make a dent in bilge odor in hot weather. And at around $30/gallon, I don't think so.
