I FINALLY have the boat ready to launch tomorrow. I have spent this week buffing and waxing. Since my topsides weren't badly oxidized, I started with black streak remover to clean up all the stains and spots. Then, using Maine Sail's instructions as a guide, I did the topsides with Finesse It II and a foam pad. This took me a couple of days - a few hours a day. Today, I waxed the topsides - I thought I had a can of Collinite on the boat, but it turns out it was One Grand Blitz wax. I'll see how it holds up. I wish I had time to do the glazing step in between, but my arms are about to fall off as it is, and I've only got another day or so before my 14-days-to-launch-since-bottom-paint are up. Last year I had a company near where we purchased the boat do this, and I suspect they just compounded and waxed, because it wasn't long before it was looking blotchy and dull. The boat looks better than it ever has, and I have decided tomorrow will be the day for photos so that 10 years from now when I put it on Yachtworld and it looks like crap, I can use the pictures from when it looked gorgeous ;)

You most likely.........

"suspected" right about the people you hired to do the work last time. That is where my "marine specialist" rant from my rudder replacement thread came from. No one will treat you things like they would there own no matter what you pay them. I'll take the opportunity to thank Main Sail as well. You are a real resource to this forum. I've used your polishing method as well with fantastic results and your project photos are fantastic. If you ever make it to Lake Tahoe you are welcome on Sea Dog any time!
