This is a letter of appreciation for the help I received from H-26 owners in my pursuit of a reasonably priced boat. Last week, I asked about the reasonableness of the $27,500 asking price of a 1997 H-26 that lacked an engine. Thanks to the advice of Tim P. of Muskegon, MI, Tom Hultberg of Lake City, MN, Rick of Cayuga Lake, and Carl of Auburn, CA, I was able to purchase the boat for under $22,000. I really think I got a great deal, as the boat included almost every conceivable extra, including a galvanized trailer and 8-layer epoxy water sealed undercoating. I finally had the chance to examine a Hunter up close, and I have to say I was very impressed by the general quality and workmanship. This is one very nice and cleverly designed boat. It clearly exceeded my expectations. The closing of my deal is contingent upon a sea-test, of course. Thanks guys! Don Barber

Congrats

Congratulations on your purchase. I bought my '97 at almost this same time last year. That meant anxiously waiting for an entire NJ winter to go by before I could play with my new toy. Hopefully you're in a location where you can sail right away. Giving advice on boat prices is kind of a two edged sword. On one side, we want to help people find a good boat. On the other side, we who already own Hunters don't want to devalue them with reports of lower and lower prices. It hurts our resale when the time comes to sell. At times, I have posted the price of my H26 purchase. At other times I shyed away from giving advice. Have fun and sail safe! Ron Mehringer
