We really appreciate everyone's immediate and uplifting advice. After talking to the marina owner and given such negative input we were getting alittle worried about our choice of sailboats. We're so glad to have found this website. we're back to looking forward to enjoying our H23. We are carefully going over your responces and are anxious to give them a try. Thanks again so much. One other Thing....

As a new Hunter 23 owner you should check several easy things that will help to keep the water outside of the boat: Be sure that the rudder pintles (especially the lower one) are tight against the transom. Looseness here can lead to a pretty good leak, since this area is under water whenever anybody is in the rear of the boat. Check the condition of the cockpit drain hose - original equipment was a plastic hose that can deteriorate and crack - leading to water in the boat again. Ditto the hose in the anchor storage locker. I speak from experience. Otherwise, enjoy the 23 - it is a great boat!! Jim Parks S/V 'Quartet'
